Censor Board to move out of Walkeshwar office after 64 years due to space crunch

After almost six and a half decades, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will shift from their office in Walkeshwar to Peddar Road in south Mumbai.

The shift to the Films Division building is likely to happen in the next three months.

Board CEO Shravan Kumar said, "We have been looking at places like Film City studio and had also written to the state and Central governments. Finally, we have got one floor in the Films Division."

He pointed out that space crunch in the present office had prompted the move. “The shifting process will take at least three months,” he added.

At present, the Board has 35 employees at Walkeshwar.

The CBFC intends to go completely online with regard to submission of their films for certification. The Board has been planning to computerise its operations for nearly five years now.
