There is nothing better than combining work with pleasure. Actor Aamir Ali, who had gone to Kashmir 10 days back for a show, extended his stay in the valley. He shares his travel memories with CS:
Kashmir calling
I had gone to Kashmir with Sanjieda (Sheikh) for a show. Both of us have been wanting to visit Kashmir for a really long time. So we grabbed this opportunity. And, we weren't apprehensive about touring in Kashmir. If anything bad has to happen, it can happen anywhere. I don't believe in the myth of unsafe locations.
Bowled over by Pahalgam
Kashmir is full of lovely places like Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonmarg. We didn't have much time, so we only went to Pahalgam. It is a two-hour drive from Srinagar. The views enroute are spectacular with beautiful hills full of coniferous trees. The trees were laden with fruits and flowers, which made them even more beautiful. We stayed in a lovely resort that had private huts.u00a0u00a0u00a0
Proud to be a Kashmiri
The locals are very warm and hospitable. One thing I noticed was that they are very proud of their homeland. We never talk about Mumbai's sightseeing spots or restaurants with passion. But they never seem to tire of talking about Kashmir and its beauty in various seasons. You ask them one thing and they will go on and on. Also, the mutton dishes in Kashmir are to die for. We especially loved the Yakhni, ie the traditional Kashmiri Pulao.
