The first look of the film

Last August, it was announced that Mrunal Thakur would make her Telugu debut with Lieutenant Ram opposite Dulquer Salmaan. Almost six months on, Thakur is ready to travel back in time to the ’60s for the period drama that sees her play a character named Sita. The actor left for Russia on Tuesday to kick-start the first schedule of Hanu Raghavapudi’s directorial venture that will be released in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.

Little is known about the trilingual, except that it is an intense love story. “The team’s first stop is St Petersburg. The cast and crew commenced shooting on Wednesday, kicking off a week-long schedule in the port city. Though this marks Dulquer and Mrunal’s first collaboration, they have a wonderful on-screen chemistry. Mrunal, who has solely concentrated on Hindi films over the past four years, is happy to foray into the south industry with this project,” says a source. On the Bollywood front, she will soon be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor in the sports drama, Jersey. Umesh Shukla’s Aankh Micholi and Raja Krishna Menon’s ambitious war drama Pippa are also in the pipeline.
