Ranbir Kapoor is all set to essay the role of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayan. While there has been no official announcement on the film, the actor has been seen visiting the filmmaker's office to discuss the film. According to latest reports, Kapoor will be foregoing meat and alcohol for his role in the film. The reports claims that the actor has taken this step to be as pure as Ram in the film. It is also claimed that the cast is being ‘tutored into a self-restrained lifestyle’.

A source told KoiMoi that Ranbir is not avoiding meat and alcohol for publicity but to do justice to his role as Lord Ram. "While the film will be shot, Ranbir will abstain completely from drinking and eating meat. These are not things he would avoid just for his public image, but also as a dedicated actor Ranbir wants to feel as pure and clean as Sri Rama. In any case, Ranbir is not into late nights and wild parties,” the source claimed.

As per reports, actress Sai Pallavi, popularly known for her work in South cinema, will be essaying the role of Sita in the film. KGF fame Yash is said to be playing the role of Raavan.

Pinkvilla had earlier reported that the film will go on floors early next year. Ranbir and Sai will start shooting for the film around the month of February 2024. The first part of the trilogy will focus more on Lord Ram and Sita, leading towards the conflict of Sita Haran. The duo will be shooting for the film from February till August 2024, before calling it a wrap for Ramayana: Part One,” the source claimed. It has also been reported that the VFX plates are prepared by the Oscar Winning Company, DNEG.

As per an internal industry source, “Ramayana is going to be one of the biggest films to come out of India and is backed by one of the prominent visual effect companies of the world. Nitesh Tiwari who is one of the best directors of the country is working full-fledged(ly on the film). The film is assembling one of the biggest casts ever to have come on the Indian screen. The shoot of the film will begin by the end of this year.”
