The couple, who went public with their romance in 2021, has kept their personal life relatively private, but their shared history on-screen and off has made them one of Hollywood's most adored couples. 08 January,2025 02:09 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentHollywood star Hugh Grant has "forbidden" his wife from watching his “Nine Months” because he thinks he was not good in it. The star, who has been married to Anna Elisabet Eberstein since 2018, starred in the 1995 romcom 'Nine Months' alongside Julianne Moore but even though he thinks highly of everyone involved in it, he feels as if he was on the one drawback. He told variety.com: "Let me stress, everyone involved with ('Nine Months'), with the exception of me, was brilliant and talented. It was just me that let it down. "My wife wants to watch it, but I’ve forbidden her. I’ve put parental controls on the screen so that you can’t get it." Over his four-decade-long Hollywood career, Grant has appeared in popular romcoms such as 'Bridget Jones' Diary' and 'Four Weddings and a Funeral'. He said that while they can be "hard work" to film, he has learned in more recent years that they achieve a longevity because of the "pain" often involved in the plot. He said: "They’re hard. And with the benefit of time, I really appreciate the good ones I did. The Richard Curtis ones are really about pain. It’s something my wife spotted. She’s Swedish; they’re good on pain.” “She was watching 'Love Actually,', and she said, “Everyone’s in pain, and the humour is all a means for dealing with pain,” reports femalefirst.co.uk. "That’s what makes them sustain and not float away like a piece of fluff. The Marc Lawrence ones I did are also great because he genuinely loves people and there’s a warmth that I find enchanting.” “Because I’ve seen the romantic comedies that are slightly put together by committee, and they don’t work as well.” “Nine Months” is a 1995 American romantic comedy directed by Chris Columbus. The film also stars Tom Arnold, Joan Cusack, Jeff Goldblum and Robin Williams. It is a remake of the French film "Neuf mois" and served as Grant's first US starring role. 08 January,2025 08:51 AM IST | Los Angeles | IANSActor Will Smith has set social media abuzz with a cryptic post that led fans to believe he might be joining the next 'Matrix' film. The actor shared a series of intriguing lines referencing the iconic 1999 sci-fi film, making it appear as though he could be stepping into the shoes of Neo, a role he famously turned down over two decades ago. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Will Smith (@willsmith) The post, which included the line, "In 1997, the Wachowskis offered Will Smith the role of Neo in The Matrix," teased what might have been a different version of the legendary movie. Smith went on to add, "He chose Wild Wild West, believing it was a better fit for him at the time," reflecting on his decision to pass on the groundbreaking role that ultimately went to Keanu Reeves. The post further read, "But the question remains: What would The Matrix have been like with Will Smith as Neo?" followed by the chilling words, "Wake up Will... The Matrix has you..." While the post generated significant buzz, with many speculating that Smith was gearing up to return to the Matrix universe, sources have clarified that Smith is not attached to the new Matrix project currently in development at Warner Bros, as per Deadline. Instead, the tease is related to his upcoming music project, marking his return to the music industry after nearly two decades. Will Smith, who hasn't released an album since 'Lost and Found' in 2005, is preparing new music for his fans. His last album featured the hit single 'Switch,' which peaked at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his third and final top 10 hit, as per Deadline. In June 2024, Smith released his first single in close to 20 years, titled 'You Can Make It,' a gospel hip-hop track featuring singer Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir. The 'Wild Wild West' film, which was released in 1999, was a commercial disappointment, earning just USD 222 million worldwide against a production budget of USD 170 million, as per Deadline. Smith starred alongside Kevin Kline and Salma Hayek in the Western action comedy. Interestingly, 'Wild Wild West' was also produced by Warner Bros., the same studio behind 'The Matrix' franchise. Meanwhile, 'The Matrix' with Keanu Reeves went on to become a massive success, grossing nearly USD 468 million globally and spawning three sequels, contributing to a total franchise revenue of USD 1.79 billion, as per Deadline. Currently, Warner Bros. is working on a new Matrix film, with Drew Goddard, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter of 'The Martian', handling the script. Lana Wachowski, the co-writer and co-director of the original trilogy, is on board as an executive producer. However, no casting details have been revealed as of yet. 08 January,2025 08:35 AM IST | Washington | ANIThe Golden Globes 2025 ceremony delivered some unforgettable moments in entertainment. Some credits also go to actor Vin Diesel who surprised everyone with his shout-out to Dywane Johnson. While presenting the award for film cinematic and box office achievement, Diesel spotted Johnson and gave a small wave. "Hey Dwayne," he said pointedly, with a small chuckle. This moment became the talk of the town as the two have a well-documented public feud. A day after attending the gala, Vin took to Instagram and shared a throwback picture with Dwayne. "All love... Always," he captioned the post, garnering loads of comments from fans. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Vin Diesel (@vindiesel) "Good to see you guys back together," a social media user commented. As per Variety, Johnson and Vin notoriously feuded during their time making "Fast and Furious" movies, but their beef came to an official end in 2023 after Johnson shocked fans by popping up as Luke Hobbs in a "Fast X" mid-credits scene. Vin had extended an invitation to Johnson in November 2021 to join "Fast X," but Johnson said at the time that "I would not be returning to the franchise. " That turned out to be a bluff, and Johnson and Vin will once again star in a movie together via the upcoming 11th "Fast" movie. During an appearance on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast in April 2024, John Cena, Johnson and Diesel's Fast costar, also made a mention of their alleged feud."There's certainly rumors about that. I can't deny that. You have two very alpha, driven people," Cena said. "You get two, there can only be one." Dwayne Johnson joined the franchise in Fast Five (2011) and appeared in Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, before getting his own spinoff Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, in which he starred alongside Jason Statham. 08 January,2025 08:09 AM IST | Washington | ANIHollywood actor Demi Moore, who took home the Golden Globe for Best Female Actor Performance in Comedy or Musical for her performance in The Substance, is now making headlines for allegedly ignoring Kylie Jenner at the prestigious event. A viral video shows Demi interacting with Elle Fanning at the ceremony, who was seated next to Jenner. She also held the reality star’s date Timothée Chalamet’s hand and spoke to him, but had little to no conversation with Jenner. Watch the video below. the way demi ignored her, oh pic.twitter.com/MRMLta9yWP — mary (@margotrobbiev) January 6, 2025 Demi Moore’s daughter responds to backlash After a section of social media users pointed out Demi ignoring Kylie, her daughter Tallulah Willis wrote on Instagram stories, "NIPPING THIS STRAIGHT IN THE BUD — we spent new years with Elle, so connecting with her after a win was a very organic thing to do. This angel was in total shock and delight and moving throughout a warm room of well-wishers. There was [no] snub of any sort, had she seen KJ wanting to congratulate her she would have fully given her the time and space. Literally, just give it all a break and let a gal enjoy her accomplishments!" Demi Moore’s viral acceptance speech Demi evoked a loud cheer with her powerful speech at the ceremony. “I really wasn't expecting that. I'm just in shock right now. I've been doing this a long time, like over 45 years and this is the first time I've ever won anything as an actor. I'm just so humbled and so grateful," she told the crowd. Moore, 62, who won for the body-horror satire The Substance, said in her speech that a producer once dismissed her as a "popcorn actress" 30 years ago. "At that time, I made that mean that this wasn't something that I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn't be acknowledged. And I bought in, and I believed that, and that corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete, maybe I've done what I was supposed to do," she added. The Substance brought Moore her third Golden Globe nomination but the first in many years; she was last recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for 1990's Ghost and 1996 TV movie If These Walls Could Talk.
07 January,2025 10:17 AM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentThe Brutalist, Brady Corbet's 215-minute postwar epic, was crowned best drama film at the 82nd Golden Globes on Sunday, putting one of 2024's most ambitious films on course to be a major contender at the Academy Awards. The Brutalist, shot in VistaVision and being released with an intermission, also won best director for Corbet and best actor for Adrian Brody. The film, about a Jewish artist in the aftermath of World War II, bears many connections to one of Brody's most renowned films, The Pianist. "Final cut tiebreak goes to the director", said Corbet. No one was asking for a three-and-half-hour film about a mid-century designer in 70mm. But it works. The genre-shifting trans musical Emilia Perez won best film, comedy, or musical, handing Jacques Audiard's movie a major prize and elevating the Oscar chances of Netflix's top Oscar contender. It also won Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldana, Best Song (El Mal), and Best non-English language Film. French director Audiard said through an interpreter that he hoped the film would be a beacon of light in dark times. I don't have sisters and maybe that's why I made this film about sisterhood, said Audiard. If there were more sisters in the world, it could be a better place. The night's big actor winners included some surprises. One shocker was Moore's win for best actress in a comedy or musical. Her comeback performance in The Substance, about a Hollywood star who resorts to an experimental process to regain her youth, landed the 62-year-old Moore her first Globe, a victory that came over the heavily favored Mikey Madison of Anora. "I'm just in shock right now. I've been doing this for a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first thing I've ever won as an actor," said Moore, who was last nominated by the Globes in 1991 for Ghost. Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress. Best actress, in a drama film, was a surprise, too. The Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres won for her performance in I'm Still Here. It is a film based on a true story drama about a family living through the disappearance of political dissident Rubens Paiva in 1970s Rio de Janeiro. Best supporting actor in a musical or comedy went to Sebastian Stan for another movie about physical transformation: A Different Man, in which Stan plays a man with a deformed face who's healed. Stan, who was also nominated for playing Donald Trump in The Apprentice, noted that both films were hard to get made."These are tough subject matters but these films are real and they're necessary. But we can't be afraid and look away", said Stan. Comedian Nikki Glaser kicked off the Globes, with a promise, "I'm not here to roast you." But Glaser, a stand-up whose breakthrough came in a withering roast of Tom Brady, made her way around the ballroom of the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday picking out plenty of targets in an opening monologue she had worked out extensively in comedy clubs beforehand. While Glaser might not have reached Tina Fey and Amy Poehler levels of laughs, the monologue was mostly a winner, and a dramatic improvement over last year's host, Jo Koy. Last year's Globes, following a diversity and ethics scandal that led to the dissolution of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, were widely panned but delivered where it counted. Ratings rebounded to about 10 million viewers, according to Nielsen. CBS, who waded in after NBC dumped the Globes, signed up for five more years. Hosting the Globes two weeks before the inauguration of Donald Trump, Glaser reserved perhaps her most cutting line for the whole room of Hollywood stars, "You could really do anything ... except tell the country who to vote for", said Glaser. But it's OK, you'll get 'em next time ... if there is one. I'm scared." The Globes' award for cinematic and box-office achievement went to Jon M. Chu's Wicked, which has nearly collected $700 million in theaters. In a heavily arthouse Oscar field, Wicked is easily the biggest hit seen as having a chance to win Best Picture. Accepting the award, Chu argued for a radical act of optimism in art.Though few film awards have been predictable this season, Kieran Culkin is emerging as the clear favorite for best supporting actor. Culkin won for his performance in Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain, his second Globe in the past year following a win for the HBO series Succession. He called the Globes the best date night that my wife and I ever had and then thanked her for putting up what you call my mania. The papal thriller Conclave took best screenplay, for Peter Straughan's script. Flow, the wordless Latvian animated parable about a cat in a flooded world, took the best-animated film, winning over studio blockbusters like Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won best score for their thumping music for Challengers. Most of the TV winners were soft-awarded series, including the Emmy champ Shogun. It won four awards, including Best Drama Series and acting wins for Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, and Tadanobu Asano. Other repeat winners were Hacks (best comedy series, actress for Jean Smart), The Bear (Jeremy Allen White for best actor), and Baby Reindeer (best-limited series). Ali Wong won for best stand-up performance, Jodie Foster for True Detective, and Colin Farrell for his physical transformation in The Penguin. She sashayed in style on the red carpet in a black gown during the 82nd edition of the awards night that brought members from the film and television fraternity together. Gal Gadot on Israelis held hostage by Hamas Gal Gadot took to Instagram and shared a picture of Liri Albag, a 19-year-old soldier, and wrote, “This is Liri, only 19 years old. She was abducted by Hamas on October 7th. Yesterday, we received a sign of life from Liri - a sign that sharpened the pain that Liri, along with 99 other hostages, has been held captive in Hamas tunnels for over 450 days. On a personal level, while I prepare for a festive and joyous evening, my heart is heavy, and my soul aches knowing the hostages are still there. Every day that passes without an agreement puts their lives in greater danger. I can't stop thinking about the families waiting for them, counting the hours, the minutes, clinging to hope. They must come home. We all deserve to see them return, alive. Bring them home now.” Gal Gadot leaves a touching message on her Instagram regarding the 19 year old hostage Liri Albag who has recently been shown in Hamas’ sick and twisted propaganda video.Let her go.Let them all go NOW 🎗️ pic.twitter.com/ZU4IeFJjTQ — Kosher🎗🧡 (@koshercockney) January 5, 2025 Liri Albag held hostage for 450 days In a video released by Hamas on Saturday before the latest weekly rally, Israeli soldier and hostage Liri Albag, speaking under duress, expressed anguish over her situation and mentioned being held for 450 days. “Today is the beginning of a new year; the whole world is celebrating.
