Why is Purab Kohli disturbed by Nikhil Advani's next TV project?

Actors often have to take to strange habits to prepare for their roles. Some smoke on screen, some go to extremes, but it seems Purab Kohli has had to do something significantly difficult.

Purab who's next big project is a TV project called Prisoners of War directed by Nikhil Advani, has the actor portray the lead who happens to be a prisoner of war. Essaying the role of a man trapped in a jail and has been tormented and tortured for years had to be something gruesome and extremist for Purab to get into the skin of his character.

It was recently reported that Purab even took to consulting a real life therapist to understand the emotional being of someone who's been a prisoner. But it was his research work to watch torture videos which deeply disturbed the actor. Purab had to consume and watch hours of re-enacted torture videos based on real ice incidents wherein he experienced the cruel ways in which prisoners are tortured. Purab had to do so to understand the physicality and the emotional outcome of such cruelties.

Speaking on this, Purab said, “the most interesting thing about being an actor is that you are constantly learning about new things. Sometimes they are very fascinating and endearing like the When I played a Rabari in 'Jal' and sometimes it can be quite intense and dark when one has to play a POW.”
