Kota Factory Season 3 has been loved by many, and its relatability to the audience has been a significant factor. Despite being a black-and-white show in a world full of HD and colours, this series is much more famous than various big-budget movies. In an exclusive chat with mid-day.com, the cast of Kota Factory—Ranjan Raj, Alam Khan, Mayur More—and director Pratish Mehta reacted to their plans of breaking the black-and-white mould, and much more.

After two successful seasons by another director, taking the chair in the third season was not an easy bet. Sharing what he felt at first, Pratish Mehta said, “I am from a sports background, so when I see pressure, I see opportunity. When you have the baggage of two successful seasons on your back, you can also call it an opportunity because it is already a successful property, and things are already established. So I thought that if I go into this universe and continue what is going on, then it's a big thing for me.”

Further, when asked if they ever felt the need to use colour in some crucial scenes, such as Mayur More’s character getting jaundiced, Alam Khan reacted and shared, “Instead of yellow, you have to make it blue to show yellow in black and white. So we had to take care of all that.”

Director Mehta revealed how Mayur prepared himself for the role and said, “Mayur did a very good thing; he didn't drink water, and his lips were looking very dry. Just an example, if he had jaundice, without showing yellow, he was looking sick.”

Further, along the same lines, we asked if they are planning to break the black-and-white mode, and they shared that they will look into it as and when the time demands. But for now, they plan to stick to their current format. Adding to that, Alam said, “A lot of people are not able to catch this, but it is very easy to catch that in Kota Factory, whenever something happy happens with any character, we show it in colours. But it goes back to black and white whenever there is a struggle.”

Kota Factory Season 3 continues to follow the journey of students as they navigate the intense pressures of Kota's coaching centres. The show is streaming on Netflix. The series also stars Jitendra Kumar and Tillotama Shome in the lead roles.
