Pearl Academy, in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), presented its student showcase ‘FIRST CUT’, which delved into the emotional, psychological and societal shifts shaping today’s youth.
The showcase included four thematic acts, each a pillar of Ikigai, guiding the search for self-discovery.
Next, Max Urban brought summer holiday fashion on the ramp with two collections: Sicilian Summer, which was characterised by fun colours and styles, and Amalfi Escape, which embodied the cool breeze of the Mediterranean coastline, the azure blue of the sea and the sunny beaches under swaying palm trees.
Kalki Koechlin turned showstopper, donning a white, flared, printed summer dress. “These collections are not just about fashion—they’re a celebration of living freely, confidently, and with boldness. Fashion is no longer about unattainable aspirations, but about embracing your true self, wherever you are,” she said in a statement. (Pic: Satej Shinde)
Next, Somya Goyal’s ‘Pivot’ collection, that won the ‘NEXA Presents The Spotlight’ award this season, took over the runway. The collection was inspired by the butterfly effect, demonstrating how even the smallest detail can set in motion a larger movement.
The constantly changing identity of the collection was achieved through colour changing details and seamless combination of textures, motion and contemporary shades.
The day, and the fashion week, culminated with the Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI Gala, celebrating 25 years of the fashion event. At this extravaganza, 32 esteemed designers showcased their archival collections, paying tribute to the evolution of Indian fashion. (Pic: Instagram/@lakmefashionwk)
