Explore Bandra-Kurla Complex on a bicycle

Some of the best explorers will tell you how beautiful this city looks at dawn. Next Sunday, rise with the sun to see the splendour of Bandra-Kurla Complex, sans its serious, corporate veil. On a three-and-a-half-hour bicycle ride of approximately 21 km, starting and ending at Bandra, stop by to smell the roses. "In our busy daily lives, we tend to take a rather superficial view of the city and let its true beauty pass us by," says Rishi Shah, founder of Mumbai Riders.

In every city he travels to, the 21-year-old management graduate always takes cycling tours. Last summer, while riding a bicycle in Chamonix, South of France, he thought of bringing the riding culture to Mumbai. With the help of his two friends, Saurabh and Falak, Mumbai Riders was born. In less than a year, more than 1,000 people have volunteered for the 26 rides they have conducted so far. They even curate corporate riding events, as they believe this is the best way to bond with a team outside work.

"Our rides cover a number of iconic sights in Mumbai under the protective blanket of the night breeze, away from the burning rays of the sun and blaring horns. They've gained a lot of popularity amongst working professionals and students across the city, who find the timings convenient and also see it as an opportunity to breathe in fresh air and pump up their lungs," informs Rishi.

Worried of a mishap? The team is equipped with a technician and medical assistance for any unforeseen situation. Besides, since water and light refreshments are on them, one doesn’t have to worry about getting hungry on the way.

Move over tourist buses and make way for the bicycle!
