Khadak police have also detained the astropalmist's minor daughter for allegedly manhandling the victim
The Khadak Police have arrested a renowned city-based astropalmist, along with his wife, for allegedly duping a 29-year-old woman. Dhanashree Patil, a resident of Girijashankar society, was suffering from depression and had visited Sumant Mrugank Mukherjee, popularly known Guruji Mukhopadhyay, for cure.

Mukherjee allegedly told Patil that he’d give her a special rudraksh necklace, which will help her overcome stress and depression. Mukherjee asked the victim to pay Rs 53,000 for the same. “The complainant gave him the money, however the astropalmist didn’t provide her with the necklace, and gave her vague answers each time she demanded the money back,” said PSI B D Howal of Khadak police station.
He added that on October 12, Patil went to Mukherjee’s office where she was manhandled by accused, his wife Seema, and their daughter. “They even pushed her out of the office,” Howal said.
Acting on the complaint, we cops have been arrested the couple under relevant sections of IPC. They were produced before the court in Shivajinagar, that remanded the duo to police custody till Tuesday. The police have also detained the 17-year-old daughter of the couple for allegedly manhandling the victim.
