Mumbai police on Wednesday issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against drug supplier Salim Dola in connection with a Rs 252 crore mephedrone seizure in Maharashtra's Sangli district, an official said, reported news agency PTI.

Dola, once a close aide of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, was found to be the main drug supplier, and declared a wanted accused by the crime branch, he said, reported PTI.

He was also wanted in several other drug cases, the Mumbai police official added.

Police had earlier busted a mephedrone supply ring by raiding a manufacturing unit in western Maharashtra's Sangli district, reported PTI.

In another case, a 28-year-old man was arrested from Navi Mumbai for allegedly possessing 55 gm Mephedrone valued at Rs 5.50 lakh, an official said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

The accused, identified as Wasim Anwar Bazkhan, was nabbed near the Belapur creek on Monday late night on a tip-off, he said, adding that a search is on for his accomplice, reported PTI.

The accused and his aide are residents of Mumbra in Thane district, police said.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Meanwhile, police have arrested a 26-year-old man after mephedrone or MD drug worth more than Rs 41.65 lakh was recovered from his possession in Mumbai suburb of Kurla, an official said on Monday, reported PTI.

According to the Kurla police station official, the accused was identified as Fareed Rehmatullah Sheikh, who recently came out on bail in a separate case registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, reported PTI.

Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap in Kurla and nabbed the accused on Sunday while he was delivering a consignment of mephedrone, a synthetic stimulant drug, said the official, reported PTI.

Sheikh was arrested under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and further investigation was underway, he added.
