Gautam stars in Bombay Gym's win

Riding on Gautam Lad's splendid all-round show, Bombay Gymkhana beat Bhagini Samaj 2-1 to reach the pre-quarterfinals of the GMBA-Matunga Gymkhana Motiram Cup Inter-Club badminton yesterday

Abhiraj Gandhi and Yogesh Mistry provided Bhagini Samaj a winning start, beating Farhan Dubash and Failsal Siddque 21-11, 21-18. But then, Gautam first beat Yogesh Mistry 22-20, 21-12 and later teamed up with Jai Diwani to thrash Kiran Desai and M Daruwala 21-11, 21-16 to clinch the tie.

In other matches, PJ Hindu Gymkhana’s juniors outplayed Chaitanya Towers 2-0 while Khar Gymkhana defeated Jolly Gymkhana by an identical margin to move into the last 16.
