Hard Rock Cafe ends the breast cancer awareness month with a musical band, specially concocted pink drinks, an awareness meet and a raffle draw

What do you call it when two rock bands battle it out while you sip on your Berry Blush Martini? "Pinktober," answers Amit Keswani, of Hard Rock Cafe.

October is the breast cancer awareness month and there have been enough events, from talks to seminars, to highlight the issue. But expect a nightclub to give the subject a different twist.

Tonight, Hard Rock Cafe along with Cancer Patients Aid Association (CPAA) is hosting Today's Special, a music band and a raffle draw of all the entry tickets from the last many days of the Pinktober event. Be sure to get in early and place an order of any of the 'Pink for a cure' drinks that have been specially created for the evening.

A portion of the sales of these drinks called Wildberry Smoothie, a non-alcoholic drink (Rs 185 + taxes) and Berry Blush Martini, which is alcoholic (Rs 300+ taxes) will go to CPAA. For once, getting drunk won't send you on a guilt trip.

On Thursday evening, down a few drinks and catch Shalini (Bass), Dhruv (Guitar), Aditya (Vocals) and Sathwick (Drums) band members of what they like to call themselves, 'Today's Special' host a gig at the Pinktober.

Essentially a blues rock band, Today's Special currently has seven of its own compositions, starting from the simply mad 'Aloo Tikki', to the funky 'Blood runs Cold, to the simply rocking 'Race'. Today's Special has played a host of gigs over the last year, ranging from the fuel tour at Legends of Rock, the pub gigs in Mysore, the October fest and their song 'Aloo Tikki' was featured on the Strawberry Fields 2008 CD.

"The entry fee for the gig will be entirely donated to CPAA," says Keswani. After spending your moolah on the gig and your share of drinks if you are still feeling generous, pick up Pinktober keychains, pins and tees. Again, ten per cent of the proceeds will be donated to CPAA.

The next day, after you've sobered up but still feeling gung-ho about the cause head out to HRC where you can attend an awareness workshop and play a game of Bingo. Make sure to dress in pink.

On: Tonight at 8.30 pm; at Hard Rock Cafe, St Marks Road.
Call:4124 2222.
Entry: Rs 100 (for the gig)
