Diagnostic centres are now sending medical test reports online. Most players offer door-to-door service
Your doctor has advised a blood test and the pathological lab has collected the sample from your doorstep. But now, you don't even have the time to pick up the test report.
Don't fret. Ask the lab to email it to you!
Sending medical reports online is the latest addition to the popular door-to-door service offered by diagnostic centres.u00a0 Once an advantage of only the big players, today, even small labs offer this facility to help save time of patients. It also helps those who are too ill to come to the centre.
"This is a service to the society. Many people are unable to come to labs for tests. We not only collect their samples from home but also deliver the reports," said Dr Ritesh Bansal of Orbits Imaging and Pathological Lab.
However, Dr Bansal's lab provides this facility only to a selected few.
But the service needs to be monitored carefully so that mistakes are not committed. Dr Lal Pathlabs has recently launched its home collection facility in Delhi and NCR.u00a0 "We use trained people to collect samples from home so that there is no scope of infection," said Sameer Kaul, the spokesperson of the centre.
And patients are rejoicing. Neelam Singh, a patient of Polyarthritis, said, "I need to get my ESR checked at regular intervals. But my physical state does not allow me to even walk properly, so a door-to-door service is most welcome."
