Bangalore loves wine; Bangalore loves theatre: So, when there's a chance for one to indulge in the best of both, we're assuming sparks should fly. Even if they don't, today's performance at Bacchus is sure worth being present for.

Abhijit Pakrashi is no theatre cliche. The young man is an engineering student who gave up South India's favourite career option (engineering), because his heart told him to. Initially a student of Dayanand Sagar College, he decided to quit his engineering ways and began a theatre group after a particularly successful interaction with a Princeton graduate in a theatre workshop.

Wikipagans, his group, initially called Clocks and Cloaks came into existence with their first performance, an interesting take on Macbeth, staged in May 2009. One Day at The Louvre/Loo is their second performance and a team of five actors has worked on the piece. Using traditional techniques like tableaux interspersed with modern narratives, the troupe hope to narrate three stories that have a common thread. The three plots are unrelated and are linked together by the common thread of 'transactions'.

Based on real life narratives such as conversations with a relatively over-curious auto driver and such daily life occurrences, the performance hopes to question larger ideals and ideas using the simplest and most accessible forms of questions -- real life incidents.

"There is room for improvisation, even though most of the performance is structured," says Abhijit Pakrashi, the director and founder, Wikipagans. "It's like that old saying -- one must be careful of what one wishes for, else one might actually achieve it and it will lose all it's relevance," he adds explaining his purposeful exodus from traditional theatrical narrative styles.

The Forever Young Wine Festival will accompany the performance, where patrons are given the opportunity to taste a pre-decided set of wines from around the world at Rs 225 per glass. The monthly event aims at allowing people to savour wines in the presence of good art at prices that anyone can afford. "We've had successful performances before such as a dance piece by Archana Kumar accompanied by Avinash on the guitar, which worked wonders at our last event. We look forward to an even more exciting event today and hope that the audience that decides to show up takes back a performance and several excited taste buds worth remembering," says Meghana, the organizer.
