Two much: Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Rampal are always perfectly groomed

The number of men clamouring for lotions and potions has grown so much that these products are no longer called cosmetics; they are now called mosmetics

When a leading cosmetics brand launched a line for men a few months ago, the question on everybody's lips was would men flock to the shops or reject the idea haughtily. The response to the products was so good that the company will soon be launching another line of Mosmetics.

The demand for Mosmetics has gone up with male models using makeup to get the perfectly sculpted look and cosmetics-giants plugging their avant-garde products pandering exclusively to men.u00a0u00a0

"It was believed that only metrosexual men used makeup and creams, but it's been found the average guy spends quite a bit on grooming products. I spend more than Rs 5,000 on hair care and skin care products," reveals DJ Chacko.

Scent of success

"Many men feel inadequate without their beauty aids," says Vipul, makeup expert.

Guys slap on cologne, slick their hair back with gel, add a bit of colour to their cheeks with bronzer and agonise over overgrown cuticles more than you would suspect.u00a0

Men's cosmetics, available on the shelves, include brands like Dolce&Gabbana, Davidoff, Paco Rabanne, Essenza Di Wills, Dunhill, Ferrari, Bvlgari, Christian Dior, Diesel, Police, Hugo Boss, Paul Gaultier etc.u00a0

Describing their target group, Stefano Gabbana of Dolce&Gabbana says, "We dedicate The One for Men to the Dolce&Gabbana man: modern, sensual, cosmopolitan, attentive to caring for himself and his body. A man blessed with inborn charisma, self-confidence, and no fear in expressing his personality through the perfume he wears."u00a0 International men's grooming brands are available at Parcos, The Collective, The Collection Mall and other leading lifestyle stores in the city. Another great place to pick up good quality men's grooming range is Bare Body Essentials, which imports personal care cosmetics and perfumes. They stock brands such as Algodermia, Patricia Milton, Face Atelier, Allison, Leonor Greyl and Bergman.u00a0

Sidharth Poojari, a well-groomed hotelier, says: "I use high quality products like Clinique face moisturizer and sun block. I like Biotherm products and bought them when I went abroad. Now they are all available at The Collective. I like the Biotherm moisturizer and shaving foam. I also like the Molton Brown bath and shower range, which is now available in Bangalore. However, I don't visit the parlour for anything except haircuts or a body massage."u00a0
