Companies are keen to set up film infrastructure in the Mumbai-Pune corridor owing to its beautiful locale and cost factor


Bollywood film studios and other film infrastructure are now no longer confined to Mumbai, but are extending to other areas between the Mumbai-Pune corridor.u00a0The favourite place seems to be Karjat and Lonavla.




A world class Film City based is coming up soon in Aamby Valley near Lonavla,u00a0 to provide end-to-end solutions to the Bollywood industry, for producing and distributing films.

Talking to MiD DAY at Aamby Valley, Seemanto Roy, Head, Aamby Valley, said, "We have earmarked 230 acres of land for this purpose and are in talks with international players across the globe."

Seemanto said, "We are already into movies and TV, and we felt that we should also set up a Film City with a state-of-the-art studio which will provide film makers."

He added, "We are now scouting for strategic partners for a joint venture. We plan to give them complete infrastructure which they can run."

He however refused to disclose the amount that Sahara intends to spend on the project. He said that with airline connectivity to Aamby Valley from Mumbai, it would be easier for businessmen, stars and producers to reach the place easily.

Spokesman of ND studio Prashil Namsatkar said, "Businessmen are preferring to set up studios in the Mumbai-Pune corridor because of the scenic beauty and affordability. Setting up a studio in Mumbai can be very costly."

The biggest film city is the Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, recognised by the Guinness book of World Records as the largest film studio complex in the world.

In Hyderabad
Thomas John, chief manager, marketing of Ramoji Film City however said they do not have any plans of an expansion. "We do not have any immediate plans of setting up a film city elsewhere."

J K Bhosale Chief Operating officer, Amanora Park, a major real estate company in Pune, said that considering the high demand, theyu00a0 are setting up au00a0 processing studio for the film and TV artists in Amanora Township in Pune.

Ajay Sarpotdar, president, Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal, added, "Our association has prepared architectural plans for setting up a film studio. We will now be approaching real estate companies to construct it in their township which will be mutually beneficial."
