Worli's new take-away eatery is all about confusion and mismanagement
Thai Chi, Worli's new take-away restaurant seems to have got off on the wrong foot. A cheery voice on the phone took down our order, and it all went downhill from there.
To start with, they had run out of noodles. The food was supposed to arrive in an hour, it came in two. We called to inquire and the pleasant voice on the phone changed to shifty.

"Err.. woh ladka abhi ayega.. Menu card bhool gaya hai or khana theli mein hain. Sorry, adjust kar lena." Eh?
The delivery boy brought our order packed in transparent plastic bags, ready to burst. "We ran out of containers," he explained.
The plastic bags were an assortment of colours, so we asked him to clarify what was what.
We lifted one bag from the bunch of thelis. "Green Thai," came the reply.
The next one: "Pepper chicken hoga," he said. The third one did him in. Confused he said, "Please taste it, you will find out."

He handed over a bill that listed two extra dishes that we hadn't ordered. We tried reasoning but he insisted we pay for the extra dishes.
Our food was still warm when we emptied it out. For those who are not accustomed to spicy food, Thai Chi's fare will have you tearing up instantly.

The Crispy Chicken (Rs 89), Kung Pao Chicken (Rs 89) and the Korean Chicken (Rs119) were overpowering pungent, with the flavour of the chicken lost to chillies.

We liked the Chicken Red Thai Curry (Rs 119), although we hadn't originally ordered it, and The Vegetarian Green Thai Curry (Rs 99).

The vegetarian curry was a delicious blend of coconut milk, garlic and cinnamon. The Vegetarian Singapore Rice (Rs 79) and Chicken Thai Rice (Rs 109) were hard to tell apart.

The quantities are generous, and the restaurant covers a vast delivery area Matunga, Shivaji Park, Dadar, Worli, Lower Parel, Mahalaxmi and Byculla. They are scheduled to open two more take-away counters in Bandra and Fort later this year.
