How many pretty places welcome you most warmly just half an hour before they're about to shut down, and make sure their kitchen waits that extra while? Hard Rock Cafe (HRC) in dilwaalon ki Dilli is one of those; so one step in, and you ought to get out of the comparison mode, as difficult as it may seem. Rich red tints meet Red Hot Chili Peppers; pseudo buffs sit alongside real rockers, and cheesy tortillas compete with saucy salmons. And oh, there's enough for the guys to fulfill their firang fish fantasy, too.

Here, too, the rock that's played would suit every Rocky's choice. There's funk and punk, acid, psychedelic, alternative, heavy metal, garage, grunge, heartland, country, glam, girl and Detroit. Thankfully, no Bhangra derivatives. Everyone's humming, head-banging and shaking a leg or two, so feel free. The walls make for a mini-museum, with inbuilt shelves that display rock paraphernalia through the ages. Chandelier lamps render the dim-lit lounge area inviting, and the dining section is good for giant groups. The bar sitters are boisterous, but there are separate spaces for solitary reapers of the good life, too. The staff is super friendly, and wears rather amusing HRC badges, which are available in the adjacent Rock Store. Just in case you have a thing for overpriced souvenirs, that is.u00a0u00a0

Drinks
Their Hurricane (Rs 425) might not quite stir up a storm, but the Caiparojka (yes, that's how they choose to spell it) quite makes up, at Rs 345. The selection of signature cocktails and mocktails is creative, and every drink on the menu has its ingredients, with amounts, well explained, just as it should be. The wines and liqueurs are exotic, and the genie-bottle like glasses, humongous.
Food
The stuff, we warn, can make you as fat as your bill. But temptation islands aren't places to exercise resistance. The Hard Rock nachos (Rs 425), big enough to share generously, are unmissable with their sour cream and jalapeno tang. In entrees, we opted for fish and chips (Rs 375), with the Red Snapper as snappy as it gets. The herb grilled chicken breast (Rs 375) and side house salad (Rs 100) also do justice to the tummy, as attendant Tikka Singh rolls in a gigantic tikka-fed chicken burger (Rs 300), their signature specialty.
A mini flag on its top says they've almost made it. Rock-a-by, baby, thy cradle is green!u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
