A massive influx of pilgrims was witnessed at Prayagraj Railway Station on Monday, as more people arrived to participate in the sacred event. Police officials remained vigilant to ensure crowd control and security, given the overwhelming number of attendees.
Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), G P Singh, reviewed security arrangements on Sunday and commended the coordination between Uttar Pradesh Police, CRPF, and other agencies involved. The CRPF’s official X account stated that DG GP Singh guided officials on maintaining a balance between vigilance and seamless public assistance.
Singh praised the "fine synergy" between the security agencies and lauded their efforts in maintaining order during the grand event. To manage the surge of pilgrims, Northern Railway has introduced four special trains to Prayagraj from New Delhi and Anand Vihar Terminal.
The additional trains aim to ease travel congestion and provide greater convenience for devotees and travellers heading to the Mahakumbh Mela. The railway initiative comes in the wake of a stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday, which resulted in 18 fatalities and several injuries.
In response to the tragic incident, Central Railway has also announced four special trains to assist pilgrims travelling to Prayagraj. Authorities continue to implement measures to ensure the safety and smooth movement of the millions attending the Mahakumbh Mela 2025.
