In a tragic incident on Sunday, four labourers lost their lives while cleaning a water tank in an under-construction building in Nagpada, Byculla. The incident took place at Bismillah Space, located on Dimtimkar Road, around 12:30 pm. The workers, identified as Hasibul Shaikh, 19; Raja Shaikh, 20; Jiyaul Shaikh, 36; and Imandar Shaikh, 38, suffocated while working inside the tank. A fifth worker, Butan Shaikh, 31, who arrived at the site after the four men, managed to survive. Other workers at the site immediately alerted the fire brigade, and the victims were rushed to the state-run JJ Hospital. Sadly, doctors declared all four of them dead upon arrival. The families of the deceased have raised serious concerns, alleging that the workers were not provided with necessary safety equipment during the dangerous task. The JJ Marg police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in connection with the incident, and investigations are underway.
