New Zealand cricket great Scott Styris has attributed a distinctive rationale for dubbing the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala as the most picturesque cricket venue globally, the 'unbelievable' momos savoured in its environs.

Styris expounded on his idiosyncratic rationale while engaging in discourse with fellow IPL 2024 pundits Graeme Smith and Brett Lee, as they recently deliberated on the world's most scenic cricket grounds on the #TheInsiders segment on JioCinema. Watch the video below:

In the course of this discussion, Styris posed the inquiry of whether the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala merits the pinnacle spot. Yet, the conversation took an unpredictably comical trajectory when Styris asserted he was awarding the stadium additional points owing to the 'unbelievable' momos served nearby.

While his co-commentators Lee and Smith appeared confounded regarding the nature of a momo, the erstwhile New Zealand cricketer took delight in elucidating not only the delectable nature of the snack but also regaled them with an anecdote about a memorable momo indulgence episode he experienced, as relayed by the broadcaster in a press release on Tuesday.

Lee asked Styris, “How many momos did you crunch?”, which prompted Styris to share how Mark Waugh, Michael Slater, Tom Moody, Greg Blewett, Brendon Julian, and Craig Cumming, and he once ate 200 momos in 12 hours during a 2016 T20 World Cup fixture between Australia and New Zealand in Dharamsala.

The story left Smith and Lee befuddled, as the former Australian pacer made the perfect parting remark after Styris finished his story. “I think if you see close enough gentlemen, we might see a couple of Scotty’s sherpas!”

The three cricketers are in India for commentary work during the ongoing IPL 2024.
