Anrich Nortje's four wickets haul helped South Africa restrict Sri Lanka to 77 runs in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Lankans' innings was wrapped up in 19.1 overs. Completing his quota of four overs, Proteas' pacer Anrich Nortje bagged four wickets by conceding just seven runs.


South Africa now needs to chase a target of 78 runs to win the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Sri Lanka.


South Africa's lead pacer Kagiso Rabada and spinner Keshav Maharaj registered two wickets each to their names. Rabada in four overs was smashed for 21 runs and Maharaj on the other hand leaked 22 runs. Speedster Ottniel Baartman also managed to pick one wicket for nine runs in four overs. Marco Jansen went wicketless in the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Sri Lanka.

Losing the early wicket of opening batsman Pathum Nissanka, the Lankans' innings was totally shattered. Nissanka departed early by scoring just three runs. Kusal Mendis scored 19 runs before losing his wicket to Anrich Nortje. Kamindu Mendis too scored 11 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga, Sadeera Samarawickrama and Matheesha Pathirana departed on a duck. Charith Asalanka and Angelo Mathews accumulated 6 and 16 runs, respectively before returning to the pavilion. Dasun Shanaka was able to score six runs. Nuwan Thushara was ran out on a duck. Maheesh Theekshana stayed unbeaten on seven runs off 16 deliveries. His knock was laced with 1 four.

South African batting lineup includes the likes of Quinton de Kock(w), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram(c), Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs. The batters will look to chase the target in as many fewer overs as they can to better their net run rate.
