Serena fires USA into World Group

Serena Williams propelled the United States back into the Fed Cup top flight with a straight-sets win over Ukraine's Lesia Tsurenko in a World Group play-off tie yesterday.

The 30-year-old Williams 6-3, 6-2 win in one hour 14 minutes in her first ever match with Ukraine’s No 1 Tsurenko extended her perfect Fed Cup record to 11 matches and gave the United States an unassailable 3-0 advantage.u00a0
