Juhu's iconic Chandan Talkies, the last remaining single-screen cinema in the area, has been demolished after being shut down in 2017

The demolition of one of the city's last single-screen cinemas marks the end of an era, paving the way for new developments.

Chandan Talkies first opened its doors 50 years ago, featuring Raj Kapoor's classic film 'Bobby', and quickly became a staple of Mumbai's movie culture

Opened in 1974, it was shut down in March 2017 due to its crumbling condition

In its early years, many celebrities who lived in the area were spotted enjoying occasional movie screenings

Developed by businessman Baijanath Joshi and named in honor of his wife, Chandrakanta (whom he affectionately called Chandan), the theater served as a beloved cinematic landmark for generations
