mid-day visited Aarey hospital, which caters to mostly tribals, on Thursday and found the facility in ruins. Opened in 1971, the only hospital in Aarey has been running only an outpatient department (OPD) for a few years now Pic/Anurag Ahire

Chunks of plaster can be seen falling off walls and ceilings in the hospital. While there is no fire fighting system, there are leakages at multiple spots Pic/Anurag Ahire

Due to its dilapidated condition, during a medical emergency, the residents have to rush the patient to either a private-run SevenHills Hospital or a BMC-run trauma centre Pic/Anurag Ahire
