The President's address marked the commencement of the Budget Session in Parliament, which may conclude on February 9, subject to government business exigencies.

President Murmu highlighted the significance of the new Parliament building, expressing confidence that it would facilitate meaningful conversations on policies and honor democratic and parliamentary traditions.

The President emphasised the resolve of the new building to uphold the principles of 'Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat' and build new traditions for 21st-century India.

President Murmu mentioned the achievements of the government, attributing the alleviation of poverty on a large scale to practices developed over the last 10 years.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the interim Union Budget on Thursday, focusing on fiscal needs until a government is formed after the Lok Sabha polls.

The Budget Session will primarily revolve around Financial Business related to the Interim Union Budget for 2024-25 and discussions on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address. Essential Legislative and other Business may also be addressed.

Supplementary Demands for Grants for the Year 2023-24 for the Union Government and discussions on the Interim Budget of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir for 2024-25 will be key points of discussion and voting during the session.
