The trial run also included the iconic Chenab Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge. The Vande Bharat train has been specially designed for the cold climate conditions of the Kashmir Valley.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that several countries are interested in importing Vande Bharat trains. The train represents a significant milestone in India's ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The first Vande Bharat Express was launched on 15 February 2019, running at speeds of up to 160 km/h. Between 2022 and 2023, approximately 31.84 lakh passengers travelled on Vande Bharat trains.

The occupancy rate of Vande Bharat trains during this period stood at an impressive 96.62 per cent. The trains are equipped with modern safety features, including Kavach technology, to ensure passenger security.

Accessibility has been prioritised with facilities like Divyangjan-friendly toilets and integrated Braille signage. Four new train models in the Vande Bharat series include Chair Car, Sleeper, Namo Bharat, and Amrit Bharat trains.

The upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper train has completed its testing phase, and data is under analysis. The Integral Coach Factory is set to begin production of the Vande Bharat Sleeper model.

The initiative aims to provide world-class amenities to passengers across India.

This trial run is seen as a step towards enhancing connectivity and accessibility in Jammu and Kashmir.
