NIMS University Rajasthan became the first university in India to host the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fala on 11 January, 2024. This historic visit marks the first foreign prime minister's visit to an Indian University.


Nims University awarded the prestigious Doctorate of Literature to Petr Fiala. He has been awarded this prestigious Degree in recognition of the unwavering commitment he has shown to improving education and society. This esteemed award is also a tribute to his outstanding accomplishments in the fields of Humanities, Social Science, Geo-Politics, Innovation-Research, and Internationalization.


Lauding NIMS University's accomplishments, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala commended the institution for its remarkable achievements in international cooperation and its unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education. Additionally, he praised the Chancellor, Dr. Balvir S. Tomar, for his visionary initiative in championing the principles of science, innovation, and education through International cooperation .


The Prime Minister emphasized the historical importance of this visit by highlighting the new beginning in educational and political relations between India and the Czech Republic. Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s visit to NIMS University is praised as more than a simple diplomatic formality. It is a symbol of appreciation for the educational advancements and technological advances achieved by Indian Institutions. He stressed the mutual commitment between both nations to enhance ties and collaborates that transcend geographic boundaries, nurturing a future of shared innovation, knowledge sharing, and cultural understanding.

Petr Fiala was the Czech Premier who officiated a ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the Petr Fiala Global Institute of Health Research Innovation, under the auspices of Balvir Singh Tomar University of Health Sciences. This institute, named after the Czech Prime Minister, will become a beacon of health research excellence, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and fostering international cooperation.

The prime minister expressed confidence about the impact that the Petr Fiala Global Institute will have. The Petr Fiala Global Institute with its multi-faceted approach, which includes biomedical research and analysis of health systems, as well as modern medical technologies and public health studies will enhance the research environment for medical and healthcare research. This vision represents a significant step in the direction of a progressive healthcare solution era for the wellbeing of our community. "

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the European Union Project (EU) between the Marik Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Cybernetics of Nims University and Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics added to the importance of the event. This strategic partnership aims to promote advancements in the fields of artificial intelligence, robots, and cybernetics by fostering an interchange of knowledge and experience between two esteemed institutions.

Prof. (Dr.) Balvir S. Tomar, expressed his enthusiasm and joy saying, "This is a celebration for a great, long term association, shared value, and boundless potential to have a global impact". We emphasize on knowledge acquisition at NIMS University through the many educational options available. "

A distinguished assembly of leaders and experts from diverse backgrounds was present to honor the occasion. Petr Fiala graced the event as Chief Guest. Other notable figures included Dr. Eliska ZIGOVA, the Czech Republic's Ambassador to India, Tomas Pojar the National Security Advisor and Jiri KOSAK, the Deputy Foreign Minister, all contributed with their diplomatic and strategic experience. Petra Fojtikova - Director General of the Prime Minister's Office - Vaclav Smolka – Government Spokesman and Head of Department of Communication - and Barbora Skapikova - Director of Department of Protocol brought administrative refinement and strategic insight to the event.

Jiri volak, from the Foreign Relations Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also attended the event. His presence enhanced its international significance. Miloslav Ludik, Director of Motol Hospital in the healthcare industry, shared valuable insights. Vladimir Marik, director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics, and Cybernetics, and Ondrej Veelk, of the Czech Institute of Informatics, also attended the event. Petr Hajek will provide insight into the intersection of technologies and infrastructure. He is a professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Czech Technical University. This diverse gathering promises to be an enriching and multifaceted experience.

Peter Fiala, in his closing remarks, expressed sincere hopes for the continued success of the two countries, recognizing their roles in shaping future education, health care, and international cooperation.
