Lowdown: This film shows a day in the life of a middle-aged woman who travels eight hours a day to come to the city to work as a maid in different households and returns home at night. Here city lives strike a contrast against her personal tragic life.

Lowdown: The movie tells the story of a woman prisoner serving a life imprisonment for murder. However, she is the quintessential all-suffering, selfless woman and she’s tested when she’s forced to choose between a loving doctor and a man from her past.

Charfutiya Chhokre
Director: Manish Harishankar
Lowdown: An NRI girl returns to India to start a school in a village in north Bihar. It takes time before she realises the hardship that she’s going to encounter in this otherwise serene locale. To make matters worse, the political-criminal nexus comes into play.

Mangal Pandey-The Rising

Lowdown: The film, set in 1857 India, focuses on the soldier who is credited with leading the first pan-India revolt against the British Empire. However, his commitment to the uprising is accompanied by his affection for a widow.

Lowdown: Hailing from the island country of Cyprus, the story is a romantic comedy about a man who takes to the road to escape the pressure of proposing to his girlfriend only to come across a bride who has just run out on her wedding.

Lowdown: This French classic is a proof about the filmmaker’s comfort with tackling even the most complex of human relationships. The film focuses on a ménage a trois where three characters are madly in love but the question is, with whom?

Lowdown: This war drama is about a woman whose husband is away fighting in World War I; she embarks on an arduous journey after receiving a troubling letter. It’s only because of a futile war that the truth about a nation comes out in the open.
