Monali Thakur says she cherry picked Pihu Sand when asked by Fanney Khan composer Amit Trivedi who she'd like to sing for in the film. Given that she knew that the music industry has "no bigger diva than Sunidhi Chauhan", it was only the veteran singer who could do justice to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's act in the film. Thakur, who has been winning praise for her vocals in the film, understands that in a musical, it is the voice that is the hero.

"It [being part of a musical] is satisfying for an artiste to do something like this. When giving voice to a character who is a protégé, a phenomenal singer, you know that the voice is going to matter. Also, in a film like this one, a singer understands that the numbers being composed have to be meaningful. After all, in musicals, the songs are revealing of the emotions in situations," says Thakur, delighted that this venture sees her reunite with Trivedi, who gave her, her "biggest hit till date with Sawar Loon (Lootera, 2013).

In her last interview with mid-day, Thakur, who had then only forayed into making independent music, promised to release singles every two months. Stating that her next one should go on the editing table as soon as she gets some time off, she says, "People will learn of my personal life with this number. I don't usually post about my life on social media. With this song, I will introduce them to those close to me."
