"I can never break up anyone's marriage, even from a distance," says Tanaaz Irani, who's trying to sabotage a marriage in a daily soap. Tanaaz is so scandalised by the idea in real life that she tells CS what keeps her marriage going:
Complete trust
Come what may, trust between the couple is of utmost importance, especially if both parties work long hours. I think this is most crucial to ensure stability in the marriage and both have to strive to live up to it.
Joining of two families
I think marriage is about the coming together of two families. Both have to accept the good and bad in each other. Sometimes you have to show appreciation, at others, make some compromises. I think remembering family members' birthdays; calling up relatives once-in-a-while goes a long way in forming strong ties.
Respect
There has to be respect between the husband and wife. Even when you fight, I think you need to make up your mind about what you want to say. Never hit below the belt; there has to be a decorum to the fights. After all, in the heat of the moment, you don't want to say something that you didn't even mean.
Love
It surpasses all differences. Even if there are things that I don't like doing, I do them just for my husband. For instance, if Bhaktiyar wants me to go with him to a party and I'm irritated because I don't want to go, I'll still end up going because it means a lot to him.
Kids
I love children and I think the joy of bringing them up together as good human beings is a fulfilling experience for a couple. They add a little madness to the couple's life and make it more interesting.
