Veteran actress Jaya Prada has landed in legal trouble. According to reports, she has been sentenced to six-month imprisonment by the Egmore Court in Chennai. Jaya was also asked to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 in connection to a petition filed by the employees of a theatre owned by her in Rayapeta, Chennai. While it is owned by her, the cinema hall is run by locals named Ram Kumar and Raja Babu. Even they were found guilty of not paying the ESI money to workers of the theatre.

According to reports, the issue started with the management of the cinema hall being unable to pay the ESI, and as a result, they approached the Chennai court. Reportedly, Jaya had promised to clear their dues and appealed to the court to dismiss the matter. The theatre in concern has been shut down. The ESI deducted from their salaries wasn't paid. Apparently, the employees claimed that it wasn't even paid to the Government Insurance Corporation, reported Deccan Chronicle.

As per reports, the Labour Government Insurance Corporation filed a case against her despite her appeal. Adding to her trouble, the court refused her appeal and imposed a fine and imprisonment. Jaya's legal team is yet to issue a notice on this in the media.
