Celebrity designer Anamika Khanna who has worked with the biggest names in B-town, from Anil to Sonam Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor to Kiara Advani and many more is the name behind Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul's wedding look.

Athiya looked resplendent in an old-rose pink lehenga and her groom cricketer KL Rahul complemented her look in an ivory sherwani, as the star couple tied the knot at Suniel Shetty's bungalow in Khandala.

How the looks were planned

Athiya and I went through the process in an interesting way. Athiya as a bride wanted to be understated, elegant and beautiful-which she is already! We went back and forth on the colour, we developed some swatches before finalising this very subtle one. The outfit is one of the most intricate pieces we have ever made because we were not just interpreting chikankari in our own way, we also developed jaali work in gold and used the finest forms of zardosi that was available and it kept getting more fine.

KL and Athiya worked in co-ordination and they had a similar vision. KL too has fine, subtle taste and that reflected in his outfit.

Creating these looks took a long time, we worked for a couple of months. The work started three months before the wedding.

Post-pandemic trousseaus

Weddings have become more personal and meaningful. Brides know their style and have a mind of their own so it's more about developing things for people. Like with Athiya she is a simple and classy person, there's no way we could have gone loud. That's definitely an interesting change, post-pandemic.
