Have you heard? Now, Alia Bhatt faces the heat

Alia Bhatt

Alia Bhatt was one of the guests at Karan Johar’s infamous home party, which proved to be a super-spreader of the virus. She has been up and about. Bhatt winged her way to Hyderabad for the promotions of SS Rajamouli’s RRR followed by a trip to New Delhi for the motion poster launch of Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra. Though Bhatt tested negative for Covid-19,  social media users feel she should have exercised restraint. Maheep Kapoor, who attended KJo’s bash, contracted the virus. Her daughter Shanaya initially tested negative, but four days later she undertook another test as a precautionary measure, and the result was positive. Using Shanaya’s example, a section of netizens is driving home the point that Bhatt should have stayed put. In April this year, the actor had contracted the virus, but social media users feel it is better to be safe than sorry.

Halwa ka jalwa

Katrina Kaif is religiously following the traditions of a Punjabi wedding. She explained that as part of the “Chaunka Chardhana ritual” where the bride cooks for the first time at her in-laws’ home, she made sooji ka halwa for Sham, Veena, Vicky and Sunny Kaushal.

Kat shared a picture of the sweet dish and wrote, “Maine banaya”, which hubby dearest relished and referred to as the “best halwa ever”. Kat has changed her Instagram display picture, which now features her with Vicky from their wedding ceremony. It is her way of expressing her love for the Punjabi munda.

Johnny boy’s day off with his loves

On Friday, John Abraham, turned 49 and marked the occasion by sharing pictures with wife Priya Runchal, which he rarely does. He completed the family portrait by including his babies — pet dogs, Bailey and Sia. The actor also unarchived all his posts, which had disappeared earlier this week. As expected it was a publicity gimmick for his upcoming film, Attack.

Musical path

Comedian-musician Raja Sagoo has recorded a Punjabi version of Romanian singer Otilia’s 2016 chartbuster, Bilionera. “Its tune is catchy and music knows no boundaries,” says Sagoo who featured on comedy shows, Hello Kaun? Pehchaan Kaun? and Comedy Circus. “Now, my goal is to make a mark as a musician,” he says.

Crazy kiya re!

As the release date of 83 draws close, Sahil Khattar reminisces having a blast while shooting with Ranveer Singh for Kabir Khan’s directorial venture. The YouTuber-anchor plays the role of wicket-keeper Syed Kirmani in the sports drama. He struck up a friendship with Singh on the set, and they bonded over their “wacky sense of humour and sheer madness.”

Chuckle, don’t buckle

Delnaaz Irani and Yesha Rughani team up for the upcoming show, Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey. While shooting for the promos, their bonhomie on the set was infectious. They would keep cracking jokes before every shot, making unit members roar in laughter. Shooting for a television show can be exacting, but with these two, there is never a dull moment on the set of the romantic drama.

In better times

The shooting schedule of Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film has been hit after she tested positive for COVID-19. She was to fly to Bangkok with co-actors Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada for the next stint of Karan Johar’s production. The makers are keen that she rest after completing the quarantine. They have deferred the shoot to next year.

Memory lane

Sham Mashalkar and Ridhiema Tiwari are reprising their roles of Ilesh and Disha in Sasural Genda Phool 2. The show, set against the backdrop of Delhi, is back on the tube after over a decade. The two never thought that they would return for another outing. “It was nostalgia time,” says Mashalkar. The duo, who play a couple on the show, has been making funny Instagram reels on the set. They want the audience to know what goes on behind the camera too.

Despite the odds

Nushrratt Bharuccha has wrapped up Janhit Mein Jaari. The last leg of the social comedy unfolded in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. She considers the completion of a film “the best moment”. The shooting of Jai Basantu Singh’s directorial venture was marred by several unit members contracting the virus. “We have gone through ups and downs, but all that matters is how it ends because everyone left with smiles, laughs, hugs and tears of happiness,” posted Singh.
