Have you heard? Weekend wedding festivities

Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s daughter Ira Khan

Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s daughter Ira Khan will have a grand destination wedding with Nupur Shikhare in Udaipur today. After the celebrations in Mumbai on Wednesday evening, the newlyweds yesterday headed to Rajasthan’s lake city with their families for a big round of festivities. Reportedly, the traditional wedding ceremony will be held at the Taj Aravali Resorts. It is being said that 176 rooms have been booked for the families and their guests for the weekend-long celebrations. On January 13, Aamir is hosting a grand reception at the Jio Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, where the who’s who of the film industry, business and political world have been invited.

An auspicious beginning

It seems Janhvi Kapoor believes in auspicious beginnings. She visited the Tirumala Tirupathi temple recently along with beau Shikhar Pahariya. Sharing her pictures on social media, Janhvi wrote, “And now it feels like 2024 has begun.” A couple of weeks ago on Koffee with Karan 8, she spoke about rekindling the romance with Shikhar, who is also one of the three people on her speed dial. She also revealed her pet name for him, ‘Shikhu’.

In the name of the father

On her father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s 83rd birth anniversary yesterday, Soha Ali Khan visited his favourite venue, Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Sharing pictures with actor-husband Kunal Kemmu and daughter Inaaya Naumi from the stadium, Soha wrote, “It seemed only fitting to remember and celebrate Abba on his birthday today by visiting one of his favourite places to play—the Melbourne Cricket Ground.”

Recalling his finest innings from 1967-68, she added, “India was 25 for 5 when he came in to bat and he needed a runner because of a pulled hamstring—he couldn’t play his usual front-foot shots and hooked his way up to India totalling 162. His 75 runs that day made it to No. 14 in Wisden Asia Cricket’s list of the top 25 Indian test innings. ‘An innings played with one leg and one eye.’ Happy birthday Abba (sic).”

To new associations

Sidharth Malhotra is reportedly in talks with Jeethu Joseph, the director of the Malayalam Drishyam franchise, for a possible collaboration.

Apparently, the subject revolves around a valiant law-enforcing officer’s quest to bring justice to a high-profile case on an international level. Sid is also discussing working with Meghna Gulzar for her next after Sam Bahadur. The actor has liked both subjects. Let’s see which one he gives a nod to first.

Remembering Feroz Khan

Zeenat Aman shared an interesting insight about her association with the late actor-filmmaker Feroz Khan. Recalling an incident when she reported late on the Qurbani set after a night of partying, she revealed, “Feroz cut me down to size. ‘Begum, you’re late and you’re going to pay for the delay.’” She signed off, saying, “Feroz was suave, charming and polished. He was a talented actor-director, and Qurbani remains one of my favourite projects to date.”

The late legend’s son Fardeen reacted, saying, “If it’s any consolation, the family wasn’t spared either. We just received the standard family discount of 25 per cent. Khan saab would have loved your post. He’d have laughed out loud.”

No crowding

Ravi Teja’s film, Eagle has opted out of next Friday’s multifilms’ clash. He shared a new release date on social media, saying, “Taking a step back for the welfare of our Telugu cinema. A little change in the arrival, not in the shot and target. Eagle from February 9, 2024. Wishing the very best to all the films releasing this Sankranthi (sic).” The producers of HanuMan, Saindhav, Naa Saami Ranga, and Guntur Kaaram thanked Eagle team for their kind understanding and cooperation.

Two of a kind

Monika Khanna and Tanisha Mehta have become close friends while working together on the television show, Ikk Kudi Punjab Di. Talking about their bond since the first time they met in Amritsar, Monika said, “We have a lot of things in common. Our upbringing is quite similar, and that’s why we have similar perspectives on things when it comes to professionalism, wisdom, and being supportive of each other, which is beautiful.” Sharing how she couldn’t bring herself to slap her friend for a scene in the show, Tanisha adds, “Monika is always eager to add more dimensions to her character and portray Heer as accurately as possible. It is truly inspiring to see her do her homework and put her heart and soul into the character. I’m glad to share screen space with a co-actor and a friend like her.”
