Fox has ordered 'Charity Case' to pilot, said The Hollywood Reporter.
From ABC Studios and 20th Century Fox Television, the half-hour single-camera effort stars 51-year-old Cox as Hailey, a woman who quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined after she inherits her late billionaire husband's charity.
Cox also will serve as an executive producer on the project, alongside Robert Padnick (The Office) and James Griffiths. Padnick will pen the script and Griffiths will direct the pilot.
The role marks Cox's return to broadcast television following ABC-to-TBS comedy 'Cougar Town'.
