Tamannaah Bhatia's Odela 2 to start from THIS point: Creator Sampath Nandi

Sampath Nandi, who is credited with having created the popular Odela franchise, has now disclosed that director Ashok Teja’s eagerly awaited supernatural thriller, ‘Odela 2’, featuring actress Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead, will begin from the point the first part ended.  On the day that the makers announced that ‘Odela 2’ would release on April 17 this year, the unit chose to meet the press. Speaking at the press conference, Odela franchise creator Sampath Nandi said, “For some of them, Odela might be just a film. For me, it is an emotion. I was born and brought up there. I studied until the ninth standard there.” He then went on to give details of what the film’s actual story would be about. “For anyone, their native place is like their mother. So, when one makes a film about their mother, how respectfully and how lovingly they will make it? We have made this film that lovingly and respectfully. If the village is the mother, then the temple and the God in that temple that protects the village is akin to a father. In particular, if you take Odela to be a mother, then the temple of Odella Mallana is like the father. This film's story is also pretty much about this,” he said. He then went on to add, “The Odela village faces a problem which eventually becomes bigger. The deity of Mallana who has a temple in Odela comes to the aid of the village. How he solves the problem through a Sadhu called Bhairavi, who has the Nagashakthi, a form of Shiva Shakthi, is what this film is all about.” Earlier on Saturday, Sampath Nandi Teamworks announced on its social media handles that the film would release on April 17. “When darkness reigns and hope fades, 'Shiva Shakti' awakens. #Odela2 Grand release worldwide on April 17th. Get ready for a divine thriller on the big screens. #Odela2OnApril17” The film has triggered huge expectations as this is the second instalment from the 'Odela' franchise, the first instalment of which was titled ‘Odela Railway Station’. The franchise has been created by Sampath Nandi and the sequel stars Tamannah Bhatia in the lead. Produced by D Madhu under the direction of Ashok Teja, the film has music by Ajaneesh Loknath and cinematography by Soundar Rajan. Art direction for the film is by Rajeev Nair. Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj issue clarification for promoting betting apps

Actor Vijay Devarakonda and Prakash Raj issued a clarification on Thursday following the allegations on them for allegedly promoting illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms. In a press statement, Deverakonda's team clarified that the actor entered into a contract with the company as a brand ambassador for skill-based games and endorsed the company in regions and territories where online skill-based games were legally permitted. The statement read, "This is to inform the public and all concerned parties that Vijay Deverakonda has officially entered into a contract with a company solely for the limited purpose of serving as a brand ambassador for skill-based games. His endorsement was strictly confined to regions and territories where online skill-based games are legally permitted." It continued, "It is important to clarify that skill-based games, including online games such as rummy, have been repeatedly recognized by the Honourable Supreme Court of India as distinct from gambling or gaming. The court has upheld that such games involve skill rather than chance, making them legally permissible." Deverakonda's team issued the press statement with the motive to eliminate any misconceptions/misinformation regarding the actor's past endorsements for online betting games. "Vijay Deverakonda's legal team and agencies carefully review all associations before entering into any agreements. After a thorough legal review, he agreed to endorse the skill-based gaming platform A23, ensuring that his association aligned with the law standards. However, his endorsement term ended in 2023, and he is no longer associated with the brand. This press release is being issued to eliminate any misconceptions/misinformation and to emphasise that Vijay Deverakonda's past endorsement of a legally recognized skill-based gaming company was completely lawful." On the same day, Prakash Raj also issued a clarification through a self-made video which he posted on his X handle. He admitted to doing an advertisement for a gaming app but later refused to continue as it didn't feel right to him. Taking to his X handle, he said, "I have not received anything from the police station or any summons as such, and when it does, I will deploy, but I think it's my responsibility to reply and clear things for you." The actor continued, "In 2016, people approached me for a gaming app, and I did do it. But within a few months, my conscience, maybe it was legal but I thought that it was not right. But I couldn't do anything, so I let it go for a year's contract. Immediately when they wanted to renew, I said no. My conscience doesn't accept that I don't want to continue." Raj claimed that he had not done any advertisements since then. He said, "This happened around 8-9 years back, and since then, I have not done any ads which promote online gambling. Now, in 2021-22, this company must have been sold to somebody else, and when they put these snippets of me on a few social media, we did send them a notice. In an email, I said look. No, I am not part of it. You can't illegally use it. It has expired. They stopped after that. This is my reply." My response 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 #SayNoToBettingAps #justasking pic.twitter.com/TErKkUb6ls — Prakash Raj (@prakashraaj) March 20, 2025 The Telangana police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against 25 celebrities and influencers, including popular figures like Prakash Raj, Vijay Deverakonda, and Manchu Lakshmi, for allegedly promoting illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms. The FIR was filed at the Miyapur Police Station in Hyderabad following a complaint by 32-year-old businessman PM Phanindra Sarma. In his complaint, Sarma claimed that during a conversation with youth in his community on March 16, he discovered many individuals had been influenced to invest their money in these gambling apps, which were heavily advertised by social media personalities. Prithviraj Sukumaran; (right) Mohanlal leads the film

Prithviraj Sukumaran discusses how he found apt locations for L2: Empuraan

Instead of its scheduled unveiling on March 20, the trailer of L2: Empuraan was released on Wednesday night, following its online leak. With the sequel to Lucifer (2019), director Prithviraj Sukumaran takes the story of Mohanlal’s Stephen Nedumpally ahead as he returns to save Kerala from the nexus of crime and politics. The director spent over a year travelling to multiple countries and scouting locations to ensure the actioner matched the grand scale he had imagined. More importantly, Sukumaran wanted the film to have as little green-screen shots as possible. “I wanted to go to real locations and shoot as much as possible practically, staying away from CGI unless absolutely necessary. It took me close to a year-and-a-half of travelling to finalise where and how we were going to shoot the film. Additionally, securing permission to shoot in foreign countries was complicated, as many sequences involved large-scale stunts, explosions, and special effects,” he recalls. After an extensive recce, L2: Empuraan was shot across India, the US, the UK, United Arab Emirates, and Iraq. “One of the most demanding aspects was finding the right locations. When people watch the film, I believe they will realise its vast scope,” says the director of the March 27 offering that will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
