The Giving Monks, a group of college going individuals, has decided to make this New Year a little more special for children who live in slums around Manilal Sunderji Municipal UP Tamil School in Vile Parle (W) by organising a party for them. This party would be an ode to  childhood parties that involved chips, music and games.

One of the core members of the group, Dishant Sheth says, "As kids, most of us must have conducted or been a part of such kitty or birthday parties on terraces. We will relive this memory with the students of the municipality schools and give them a taste of our childhood."

"We are going to play music, dance and sing, watch a film on the projector, and if we have enough funds, we have decided to give them a return gift of some kind," he lists. They are expecting around 150 children.

The event is open to contributions from anyone. The Giving Monks comprises four core members — Dishant Sheth, Piyush Kamdar, Miloni Visaria and Dhara Dholakia and volunteers. "We also have a Whatsapp group with 15 members who pitch in regularly," says Seth.
