Tight security at Xavier's College for Clinton visit

Mumbai's St. Xavier's College -- to be visited by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Saturday afternoon -- was crawling with policemen hours ahead of her arrival.

Security personnel were positioned on top of all neighbouring buildings and were out in strength on the road outside the college, where she is scheduled to arrive 4 p.m.

"Police are everywhere -- standing atop buildings, on the roads, in the Azad Maidan opposite the college... the area is teeming with police, they are crawling all over," said a bystander.

All the buildings in the neighbourhood have been barricaded and there is tight security all around. "Though traffic is moving, it is expected to be diverted," a police official said.

The media was camping in full strength outside the college, which is across the road from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus -- one of the major spots under atack by the Pakistani terrorist on 26/11 last year.

The college is also right next to Cama Hospital, where top Mumbai police officials Hemant Karkare, Ashok Kamte and Vijay Salaskar were gunned down by terrorists during the terror attack.

Clinton, who arrived in the city on a wet Friday night, is going to meet NGOs at the college and also interact with students and teachers. Film star Aamir Khan is slated to be present at the meeting, which is to last an hour.

The place is also teeming with curious onlookers. "With today (Saturday) being a half working day, many people have come just to have a glimpse, for time-pass," said Sanjay, who too was hanging out.
