BREAKING: Fire breaks out at shops in Byculla, five rescued

A fire broke out in two-storey adjacent shops at Byculla on Wednesday morning. Around four to five persons were rescued safely by firemen from the staircase of the adjacent ground plus two structures.


The blaze started around 7.20 am in a shop on Shakeel Street in Byculla. The incident was reported by BMC's Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB).


The fire broke out in Shop (Gr+1) and (Gr+2) opposite Saiffi Manzil, near Hyat Medical, Sakhali Street 3, Byculla West, Mumbai.


The MFB's reported it to be a level two fire.

"Fire is confined to shoes, footwear and leather stock, garments, electric wiring, electric installation, etc. in various gallas on ground floored, G+1 and G+2 Structure and household articles, cloths, electric wiring, electric installation, etc on  G+2 structure," said the BMC.

According to the fire brigade department, the 09 hose line of the 08 motor pump is in operation.

"No injury reported," stated the civic official.

More details are awaited.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out in Thane district's Bhiwandi on Tuesday.

The fire was extinguished in the wee hours of Wednesday.

As per the preliminary information received from the civic official, the incident occurred at a cotton yarn manufacturing unit located in Osia Mata Compound in Raj Mata Complex in Bhiwandi.

The civic officials stated that the Bhiwandi fire brigade unit had deployed two fire engines.

Thane's fire brigade team arrived at the spot with a jumbo water tanker vehicle, and Kalyan's brigade had sent one fire engine to the site.

The fire was completely extinguished by them by approximately 3.35 am on Wednesday, stated the civic official.
