Mumbai Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Understanding the constituency

Mumbai South, which is home to the majority of affluent industrialists and personalities, has a diverse demographic comprising Jain and Marwari traders, a Muslim population from Byculla and other nearby areas which is spread across the elite and the middle class. Much like the South Central constituency, Mumbai South has seen different politicians representing it and it was held by Congress leader Murli Deora's son Milind Deora before ceding it to Arvind Sawant in 2014.

While the elite of the constituency have complained about air and dust pollution; they have lamented about their surroundings having become noisy given the extensive construction work undertaken. The residents of South Mumbai's slum pockets meanwhile complain about the lack of proper sanitary facilities.
