The zoo, which is more than 150 years old, organises activities for kids on special occasions
The historic zoo in city has long been a popular destination for both locals and tourists looking to enjoy nature and wildlife
The Byculla zoo is typically closed on Wednesdays for cleaning and maintenance purposes. However, according to a resolution passed earlier by the BMC, if a public holiday falls on a Wednesday, the zoo will remain open to the public and will instead be closed on the following day
The zoo is open to visitors on all other days of the week, except weekly holidays, which are on Wednesdays. The ticket window of the zoo is open from 9.30 am to 5 pm. The zoo closes at 6.00 pm
The Mumbai civic body charges entry fees to visitors which are set at Rs 25 for children, Rs 50 for adults and Rs 100 for a family of four
The zoo sees large crowds on public holidays. The visitor count is set to surge after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) opens a tunnel aquarium, similar to the one in Dubai, at Byculla zoo
Last year, an underwater viewing gallery of crocodiles and alligators was also opened at the zoo
