Earlier, the Prime Minister commemorated Netaji on "Parakram Diwas," recognising his unparalleled role in India's freedom movement. The central government officially declared January 23 as "Parakram Diwas" in 2021 to honour Netaji's legacy.
A grand three-day celebration marking Parakram Diwas 2025 is taking place in Cuttack, Odisha, from January 23 to January 25. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the event at Barabati Fort, paying homage to Netaji and hoisting the national flag at his birthplace museum.
A video message from PM Modi opened the Barabati Fort celebration, followed by a photo and archival exhibition featuring rare artefacts from Netaji's life. Interactive AR/VR displays at the exhibition chronicle Netaji’s journey, offering an immersive experience for attendees.
The event also includes a sculpture workshop and a painting competition to engage participants in celebrating Netaji's contributions. Cultural performances highlighting Odisha’s traditions and films about Netaji’s life are central to the three-day event.
The Ministry of Culture has continued its tradition of honouring Netaji, with previous celebrations including the unveiling of a hologram statue at India Gate and the naming of islands after war heroes.
