Mediterranean morsels apart, The MED's simple setting offers a soothing space for tired souls to unwindOnce upon a time, Middle Eastern meals in the capital left you pretty much in the middle. But not anymore.u00a0 A couple of hours at The Med, and you'd know why. Quietitude, quaintness, quality and class are what set it apart from most places that serve delicacies from the deserts. And of course, the fabulous fare. Deserted: The Med's interiors are simple yet welcoming FoodThe Med features seasonally inspired cuisine, with Italian, Spanish and French influences. We started our journey by digging into Romaine (Rs 395), smoked chicken salad (Rs 495) and potato thread wrapped prawns (Rs 495). All good. You can also choose among a host of other options. The soups are a must-try, too. The menu changes daily, so regulars won't get disappointed. The all-time favourite flatbreadsu00a0 formed our main course. The tomato basil flat bread (Rs 650) and Pissaladiere flat bread (Rs 650) were both steals. We also tried out vegetarian tagine, a kind ofu00a0 stew served with bread (Rs 650), which tasted just about average.u00a0 Those with a penchant for pasta can go in for asparagus and ricotta ravioli (Rs 645) along with Asturian style paella (Rs 795), and Paella Verduras (Rs 645) highly recommended.u00a0 When it came to the sweeter side, the good ol' hot molten chocolate played its part well. This apart, you can choose from apple tartetatin, maple mascarpone cheese cake and tiramisu among others, at Rs 300 each.DrinksThe eatery has a well-stocked bar that offers all major brands of wines, alcohol and cocktails. Teetotallers can go in for Italian smooch, Hawaiian punch, Tropical flair and apple mojito (Rs 225 each). AmbienceWith its sand-blasted glass entrance, an over-sized bar, exhibition kitchen and wood-burning oven, the restaurant evokes the Mediterranean feel with elan. The restaurant, with a capacity to seat around 109 people, offers ample space for privacy. The setting is simple something that can be jazzed up just a little bit. The music is strictly Englishu00a0with the main emphasis on gastronomic experience. Nevertheless, Aladdin won't mind a trip.
