Police claim they were caught off guard when the rowdy pulled out a gun and fired at them

Police say rowdy Paramdhama's pistol caught them off guard; they are wondering whether he was part of a larger underworld gang.


"We are investigating how he had a pistol," said a police officer investigating his case. "We recovered two mobile phones belonging from the scene of the encounter which could give us many leads."




The encounter

Paramdhama (30), who was involved in the murder of realtor and BJP worker Chandrashekhar Babu in Lalbagh, was gunned down by CCB officials while trying to flee.

On a tip-off, CCB officials intercepted Paramdhama's Santro car near Parappana Agrahara early on Monday morning.

Sensing danger, Paramdhama's associate Ravi alias Cycle Ravi managed to escape. Police claim Paramdhama also tried to escape after opening four rounds with his pistol.

Police say they retaliated and fired three rounds which got Paramdhama in the stomach and neck. The profusely-bleeding Paramdhama was taken to Victoria Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Babu case

According to police, Paramdhama had killed Babu after he refused to pay him protection money. He had nine criminal cases against him and had been arrested and remanded tou00a0 jail recently. But he had continued to extort money from businessman even from jail.
