The Queenie-Rishi celebration

"Kiran and Anil (Agarwal, Chairman of Sterlite) are throwing a reception for Rishi and me at their home next week," said Queenie Singh who got married to beau Rishi Sethia recently and fittingly, aboard a yacht in St Tropez.

"It just won't be complete without you," said the husky voiced society diva, jewellery designer and mother of two, who shook things up in Mumbai almost from the moment the heel of her stiletto touched the Mumbai airport tarmac.

Singh and Sethia make a handsome couple, and their love affair has come as a gentle breeze following a storm of breakups, media coverage and turbulence. Some stories do end in 'a happily ever after', after all.

Another gem in the Khan necklace
However much we wanted to, we couldn't make it yesterday to Tanishq for the launch of our friend Farah Khan Ali's second edition of the Farah Khan Collection, exclusively designed for India's only national jewellers spreads across 179 exclusive boutiques in 102 cities.

The evening before the launch of the event, we'd been with Farah in fact, celebrating another achievement in a long necklace of family triumphs – the launch of her mother Zarine Khan's handsome recipe book Family Secrets.

Farah is Zarine's eldest daughter and we noticed that even as the event wound down, she had stayed back, until the last guests had left, giving her mother company and support on the eve of her own mammoth event the next day.

"You have to come tomorrow," she'd said as she'd excitedly whipped out her phone to show us an assortment of chandelier earrings, cocktail rings, pendants, bracelets, multi finger rings, ring-earrings, all inspired by the flora and fauna of Persian and Mughal styles.

"We've priced them within the range of Rs 1-5 lakh," said Farah showing us one bejewelled creation after the other, "all crafted in 18k gold with diamonds and other precious stones like rubies, emeralds, pearls, citrine, amethysts..." she'd said.

But delicate and ethereal as her creations are there is considerable steel in the designer who graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in California in 1992, whose creations are said to adorn such celebrated ear lobes and wrists, as the likes of Beyonce, and Serena Williams, and Deepika Padukone.

So you can imagine just how much we would have liked to be there for her to celebrate her success. But of course we couldn't go, because we had to write this instead!

Annals of the young and restless
The past weekend saw yet another 'curated nightclub' pop up in the ballroom of a midtown hotel and open its doors for the young and restless with the promise of being 'the party of the year'.

The event, billed as an exclusive 'invite only' night, took over the large banquet space at the Palladium Hotel on Saturday night and set up mini VIP Tables with bottle service and personal waiters.

And though the event managed to attract star quotient with names like Varun Dhawan, Shraddha Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Sonam Kapoor and Yuvraj Singh, it somewhat underwhelmed the crowd with complaints of over-crowdedness, a congested bar and a crush of the hoi poloi.

"There was too much hype this time around, and though the music was good and they played some nice retro tracks, the décor lacked elegance and it kind of felt like a shaadi in a large banquet room," said a source.

And with stories of much shoving and chaos at the entrance, no surprises says the source that a youthful business tycoon, whose name was supposed to be on the list, was refused entry. Given the ambience, the young gent is said to have smiled, shrugged and gone home quite happily.

Paying it forward in style
She might just have hit upon a game changer on social media. When actress and model Priya Bose announced that she was giving away two of her dresses, both worn once, because they in turn had been given to her and she' wanted to pay it forward', it set off a chain reaction of unadulterated delight.

"What a stellar thing to do! Cheers!" responded musician Vishal Dadlani, epitomizing the thumbs up and instant likes that Bose's post had elicited. Some lucky woman apparently snapped up the dresses under 15 minutes. Of course it didn't hurt that being a model herself, Bose made them look like a million bucks!
