District and Sessions Judge Gopal Krishna Roy granted anticipatory bail on two bonds of Rs 9,000 each and sureties of the same amount to the minister.
He was directed to present himself in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate within three weeks.
Ajay Kumar Jha, an employee of the construction company, had filed an FIR with Jokihat police station in the district against the minister and his five supporters on December 9, last year alleging that they had demanded Rs two crore as extortion to continue with the work.
The FIR against Taslimuddin and others were filed under Section 143 (punishment), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 366 (kidnapping) and 384 (punishment for extortion).
