Another blast rocks Pakistan; several dead

At least six people were killed Friday in a bomb blast near a police station in Pakistan's Peshawar city, Xinhua reported quoting TV channels.

11 people were killed andu00a0several injured when a suicide bomber exploded close to a police station in Pakistan's Peshawar city Friday, the second terror attack here in as many days.


An official said that 10 people were killed in the afternoon explosion at the Cantonment Area and that two of the injured were in critical condition.

The explosion took place close to the building used by the intelligence officials to interrogate terror suspects, DPA adds.

The explosion partially destroyed the building, trapping policemen and suspects in the rubble. The wall of a mosque was damaged.

An unknown number of school children too were injured because they were passing by.

Television footage showed a badly mangled vehicle. The injured were taken to the Lady Reading Hospital.

On Thursday, an eight-year-old child was killed and nine people were injured in a car bomb attack in Peshawar, a bustling city where Taliban fighters are known to take refuge.

A spate of terror attacks have hit Pakistan this month.

Also Thursday, the Taliban laid siege to Lahore city with simultaneous attacks on three police establishments that killed 25 people, including 10 of the attackers. Eleven people died in suicide attacks elsewhere.

On Oct 10, terrorists had attacked the Pakistan military headquarters in Rawalpindi. The two-day standoff ended with 19 people, including a brigadier and a lieutenant colonel, being killed.

The day before a suicide bomber detonated a car stuffed with explosives in a busy market of Peshawar, killing 53 people and injuring over 100.
