Former Kerala CM, senior Congress leader Oommen Chandy passed away on July 18. Oommen Chandy, aged 79, had been undergoing treatment for cancer in Bengaluru. Former Kerala CM represented Puthupally constituency in Kottayam for more than 50 years. He first represented Puthupally in 1970 and later became a minister in former CM K Karunakaran ministry in 1977. Oommen Chandy became Kerala Chief Minister for two terms and handled finance portfolio of the state. He used to address the grievances of the needy through his mass contact programme ‘Janasamparka Paripadi’.
